Shifter Cover broken..

So I ended up taking my shifter apart today and found the rubber parts (the ones that slide in the track and make up the dust cover) were sitting in the tracks. the center hard plastic peice had broken thereby letting the 2 rubber ends slide down out of sight. I made a new center plastic piece and glued it into place.

The only disadvantage is that dust can enter the port when the cable is removed. This problem can be overcome by providing a plug made of soft material like polyurethane as a removable dust cover. I am going into so much detail because many more people will encounter the same problem till a better design evolves.
