I picked this Burke drill press up at a yard sale for $25 and was able to make it work again after a good amount of modifications.I mounted a 1/3 hp 115 volt motor and I am still looking for some pyramid pullys so I can have more than one speed.I realy like the old style machinery and the fact that something that old still works.

Yesterday I rescued an unusual old but probably not terribly old Burke Machine Tool Co. drill press. Made in Conneaut, Ohio. Note that it has bracket for directly mounting the motor on the column like a modern drill press, and a return spring, and the table can swivel left and right or out of the way.

I once had an older model Burke of similar size and knew just what this was when I saw it. The stand is unusual I think. Also unusual is the bracket for directly mounting the motor behind the spindle almost like a modern drill press, even has a guard.
